Chapter 627 Rules of Archaeology

"Senior sister, senior brother!" When Chen Kan and Weng Xiu were chatting frequently, the door was opened, and a girl stood at the door. The girl's eyes were very clear, giving people a very clean feeling, with a slight smile on her face, which was beautiful and charming.

"Dong Bing, come in quickly, it's hot outside!" Weng Xiupin said quickly.

"Yeah, that's OK."

"Don't you have something to do at home? Are you back so soon?" Chen Kan asked.

"I told her about the early events of the Ancient History Conference. If I hadn't told her, I would have been finished by you telling her." Weng Xiupin rolled his eyes to Chen Kan and said.

Chen Kan could only touch his nose awkwardly. This was indeed his mistake. If it weren't for Weng Xiupin's reminder, Chen Kan wouldn't know about this at all.

The annual meeting is very important for a newcomer like Dong Bing. This is her first battle in the academic circle. When Chen Kan first attended the annual meeting, he was excited for a long time and wrote a paper of high quality. However, because his qualifications were too shallow to talk on stage, he was finally included in the "Proceedings of the Conference".

It is also normal for senior brothers and sisters to take care of junior brothers and sisters in the academic circle. When Chen Kan first entered this circle, he was led by a senior brother himself, but this senior brother was rather miserable because Chen Kan's level was already very high at that time and he couldn't take care of him, so in the end he could only take care of Teacher Sang himself.

Teacher Sang "handed" Dong Bing to Chen Kan, but in fact, Chen Kan took her. Although Chen Kan's current secondary normal school is not very good, Chen Kan still has a high status among the younger generation in the academic circle, especially Chen Kan is still a student that Mr. Zeng likes.

"Senior brother taught me a lot." Dong Bing said quickly. This is a very cautious girl. According to Teacher Sang, she is a rich second generation, but Chen Kan really can't see this.

Of course, I can't figure out how a rich second generation, who is still such a beautiful girl, would choose to study boring history? I can only sigh that this person is really amazing.

"Have you thought about what to write this time?" Weng Xiupin asked with a smile.

"I thought about it carefully on the way here. I want to write about Yuan Shao." Dong Bing said crisply, and then looked at Chen Kan, hoping to get Chen Kan's recognition.

Chen Kan smiled and nodded. When Dong Bing saw Chen Kan's lecture notes before, she saw Chen Kan's comments about Yuan Shao, and she became interested in Yuan Shao. These days, in addition to helping Chen Kan organize, she also collected a lot of materials about Yuan Shao.

"This is good. I have recently discovered some new materials, and this idea is completely feasible."

"But it's not easy to write in the Three Kingdoms. It's very difficult for you to choose this direction." Weng Xiupin said.

"I know, but I still want to give it a try."

"I support you!"

Weng Xiupin's words are correct, it is very difficult to study the Three Kingdoms.

The most important thing in studying ancient Chinese history is historical materials, and there must be enough historical materials to do research. In the entire history, the one with the least historical materials is naturally the three dynasties of Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties. Because it has been too long and there are too few historical materials, most of which are legends.

Even the Xia Dynasty and Dayu did not know whether it existed. There is a saying in the academic community, "Dayu is a worm." On the one hand, this sentence means that there is a word "worm" in the word "Yu", and on the other hand, it means that this person does not exist.

The second-ranked historical materials are rare and the second-ranked one is naturally the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period and the Qin Dynasty, which is too far away. The third-ranked one is not the Han Dynasty after the Qin Dynasty, but the Three Kingdoms.

Among these three periods of history, the most difficult thing to study was the Three Kingdoms period. Now there are very few experts in the academic community who specialize in the Three Kingdoms, comparable to giant pandas.

Because the Three Kingdoms period was too short, historians basically would not study the three dynasties of Xia, Shang and Zhou, but sociologists were interested in it. The history of thoughts was also rich in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. The thoughts of various schools of thought were not too much material, and they could be studied, but the Three Kingdoms were the most difficult to study.

For this situation, if you want to make a breakthrough, there are two ways.

One is Chen Kan's method. He uses new methods to develop new things based on old materials, but this is very difficult and innovation is very difficult. Otherwise, Chen Kan would not be able to win the top 100 postgraduate thesis with this.

The second method depends more on luck, which is to look at archaeological discoveries. If there are some new materials from this era of archaeological discoveries, then based on these new materials, new research results may appear.

But this really depends on luck.

Maybe you would say that those tombs are there, just dig them out directly, and the information can be unearthed. How can it be based on luck?

This also involves a regulation from the Chinese archaeological community. The Chinese archaeological community has the regulation that "we cannot actively excavate ancient tombs within a hundred years." The archaeological excavations we see now are basically "rescue excavations."

The so-called "rescue excavation" is an excavation to protect the tomb. For example, if the tomb is stolen, in this case, it must be excavated, otherwise the damage will be even more serious. For example, when the Three Gorges Dam was built, the Three Gorges Dam would flood large areas, so the tombs in these areas were protected.

As for why this regulation was found, it was actually decided after a bloody lesson. At the beginning of the founding of the country, there was no such regulation. At that time, the archaeological community concentrated manpower and material resources to excavate the tomb of Emperor Wanli in the Ming Dynasty's Thirteen Tombs.

Why choose Emperor Wanli?

There is naturally a reason for this, because the most famous thing about Emperor Wanli is that he did not attend court for 23 years. There are many inferences about the reason for this. Historians at that time speculated that Emperor Wanli was very likely to take drugs, so he wanted to "open a coffin and examine the autopsy", which proved that Emperor Wanli was indeed taking drugs.

This is not the key. The key is that due to the lack of technology at that time, many burial objects were not able to be protected as soon as possible, causing huge damage when they came into contact with the air. A large number of documents, pictures, and objects oxidize the moment they came into contact with the air.

This caused huge losses, so the archaeological community set a rule that "no excavation can be done for a hundred years". Therefore, whether new materials can be excavated depends entirely on luck.

Fortunately, Dong Bing was very lucky. Last year, he excavated a cemetery from the Three Kingdoms period in the Yangtze River Basin. There were a large number of bamboo slips, including some materials about Yuan Shao, which provided new materials and possibilities for Dong Bing's research.

"I hope my senior sister will give me some advice at that time!"
